Welcome to the new Amberwood Care Centre blog.  We are creating a site to explore and discuss the various topics that pertain to senior health and living.  There will be clinical articles that deal with health issues as well as methods to increasing and maintaining a high quality of life.

Amberwood Care Centre provides specialized short-term and lon-term care with a focus on the individual.  Care is personalized based on each resident's needs and wants.  By getting to know the resident's "life story", the staff members at Amberwood are better able to provide for that resident.  This becomes especially helpful when dealing with a resident that has memory loss.  This is an area that Amberwood is highly specialized in.  From normal memory loss due to aging to the extreme cognitive deterioration that occurs in dementia, especially Alzheimer's disease.  The first blog will actually highlight the symptoms and degrees of memory loss, how to notice the signs, how to care for someone and how to seek help for caregiving.
