Amberwood recently hosted a FREE seminar, open to the public, on the National Alzheimer's Project Act or NAPA. The presentation was given by Dr. Malgorzata Bach from the Brain Center at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Dr. Bach stressed that, " It is important to stay up to date with what the government is doing about this disease... and try to stay connected with lots of networking and human interaction... going to support groups is always good". She went on to discuss the new law and the economic crisis that this escalating disease will lead to. With 20 members of the community in attendance, Dr. Bach also answered questions, as did Amberwood's Administrator, Julie Logan. Several of the questions that were asked, pertained to "slowing down" the disease's process. Dr. Bach covered several current medications and discussed the important role of human interaction. Amberwood hopes that everyone who attended also learned a lot and will continue to take advantage of the regularly scheduled seminars, support groups as well as our Caregiver Connections program. If you are interested in learning more about NAPA, but were unable to attend the seminar, you can check out the Slide Show presentation HERE or stop by Amberwood Care Centre for a free packet of information.
