Restorative therapy is designed to help maintain the functional ability of those residents who are no longer in an acute or short-term rehabilitation program. Directed and implemented by a registered nurse and specialized aides, restorative nursing focuses on the therapeutic use of simulated life activities to help restore daily living skills.
After a prescribed period of post-hospital rehab has ended, patients who do not meet their recovery goals will find an exceptional healing resource in our new Restorative Therapy Program. This unique level of care provides an additional regimen of specialized therapy and support for up to six weeks after a short-term rehab stay.
Unlike conventional facilities whose restorative services are merely an added responsibility of the general nursing department, Amberwood’s Restorative Therapy Program is a totally dedicated service, separate from our nursing department. The program is staffed by its own certified restorative nursing director and highly trained specialists. Care planning, case management and program implementation are focused entirely on individual resident needs, capabilities and limitations. Continuity of care is enhanced. Stalled progress is rekindled. Outcomes are maximized.
Once a patient is ready to return home, members of the Restorative Therapy team will assess the need for home care, as well as the patient’s living environment and lifestyle needs in order to ensure optimum safety, comfort and independence. |
